The draws for the State Cups have been made. All games will take place on Sunday October 19.

The first team is drawn at home and will host Port Jefferson (also of the LISL) at St Michael’s at 12pm (to be confirmed).

The reserves face a long trip to the Hamptons to take on East Hampton FC of the Long Island Soccer League in the D’Arpino Cup.

The Over 30s will take on Barnstanworth Premier that evening at 8pm. An away draw but in the familiar surrounds of Randall’s Island – either Field 74 or 75.

Over 30s keep 100% record going, reserves top of the league and still unbeaten

The Shamrocks Over 30s settled well into their new kit with another excellent victory on Sunday, beating Megas Alexandros 4-1 at Randall’s Island.

There will be an official unveiling of the new jersey – which is kindly sponsored by Crana Electric – next Sunday at the Courtyard Ale House but the unofficial baptism was a good one, with Sean Riley scoring another brace, his strikes bookended by Adrian Morrissey’s first of the season and a Tayfun Gokmen penalty.

Meanwhile in Secaucus, Glen Wrafter’s first team suffered a setback in cruel circumstances at New Amsterdam on Sunday.

A double from Joey Aronovsky was not enough to get all three points – after dominating possession for most of the game, the hosts headed home in the 91st minute to get a share of the spoils.

Stevie Doyle’s reserves are still top of the table after they registered an impressive 3-0 win with goals from Paul McDaid, Leandro Fregossi and Sean Hand.

The women fell to their first defeat of the season, losing 3-0 at Pier 40 to Sirens.

Next Sunday, the men’s teams are all at home while the women have a late trip to College Point.

A great Over 30s win over arch rivals and a historic debut for Rocks Women

In spite of a setback for Glen Wrafter’s first team, this past weekend was a tremendous one for the Shamrocks.

The day began with a morale boosting and well deserved victory for the Over 30s against Manhattan Celtic at Randall’s Island.

Sean Riley scored twice in his first start of the season while Danny Parkin’s pinpoint accurate free kick summed up an impeccable performance from the Manchester man. Alex Berne scored in his second game in a row as Paddy Mc Carry’s men cruised to a 4-2 win.

Meanwhile, the new women’s team finally got things underway with their first ever Metropolitan Women’s Soccer League game.

A 0-0 draw against Phoenix was a solid start to their league campaign. Congratulations to Erin Cullen, Teresa Brink and Tricia Reed and also to club president Sean Mc Mullan for making this historic day possible.

Polonia were the visitors to St Michaels in the Cosmopolitan Soccer League Division 2 and they took a win and a draw back to Greenpoint.

A 2-1 defeat for the first team leaves them on two wins from three in the standings. Mohamed Fofana scored in the second half after good work from Joey Aronovsky and Nikle Guzijan.

Earlier, the reserves were unlucky to be denied victory, Sean Hand scoring on his debut in a 1-1 draw.

Our new field in Queens – St Michael’s Playground played host to two big victories in the Cosmopolitan Soccer League Division 2 on Sunday.

It’s a long year ahead and Saturday’s golf outing in Forest Park is the next vital step in ensuring all three teams have everything they need to put on a good league challenge.

But congrats to the first team on their thrilling 5-3 victory against league champions Iberia.

Mike Stone’s hat trick was pivotal while there were impressive performances from debutants Santiago Rigby and Mohamed Fofana.

Well done to Stevie Doyle and the reserves who deservedly won 2-1 with a dramatic late winner from Paul McDaid.

It was a big step forward for the club to enjoy our first wins of the season at our new field in Queens. Well done Sean Mc Mullan, Eddie Gilmartin and Eoin Sweeney for ensuring the field was ready with nets and flags all set up.

Thanks to everyone who went back to the Courtyard. Their support is vital and with home games on Sunday this season, there’ll be regular opportunity to go back and celebrate there!

Finally, it will be another historic day next Sunday as our new women’s team launches their season at St Michael’s Playground – kick-off 1pm.
