The Shamrocks got back to winning ways this weekend, beating Sporting Astoria 6-0 in Randall’s Island on Sunday evening to remain top of Division 2.

The Rocks went 1-0 up after 30 minutes when an attempt by Stephen Lucianek, who was making his debut for the Rocks, was cleared.OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Rocks captain for the evening Nike Guzijan volleyed the clearance home from close range.

Then Mohamed Fofana (pictured right) took center stage scoring four in a row – two goals either side of half-time.

His first was a fine finish after a slick passing move and his second was a penalty.

After the break he completed his hat-trick finishing neatly after some fine build-up play and he rounded off his night with fourth, a neat finish from close range.

Santiago Rigby finished the scoring with a low drive into the bottom corner with his left foot after a fine run.

Unfortunately the reserves game was postponed due to a referee no show.

There was a tough defeat earlier in the day for the Over 30s who were beaten 5-0 away by the Manhattan Kickers Premier team.

Next weekend, the reserves and 30s will enjoy a weekend off while the first team travel to Yonkers for their State Cup game against South Stars (Cook Park, Sunday, 2pm).

The women’s team will play Appletown in a rescheduled game that has been brought forward from December.
