WEEKEND RESULTS

CSL Division 2 Reserves
Sporting Astoria 2 NY Shamrocks 6
CSL Over 30s Division 1
NY Dinamo 0 NY Shamrocks 3

The Shamrocks Reserves and Over 30s will head into Spring 2015 with big leads in their respective divisions thanks to comprehensive wins on Sunday.

A hat trick from Mohamed Fofana who was making guest appearance for Stevie Doyle’s Reserves helped the Rocks beat Sporting Astoria 6-2 at St. Michael’s Playground.

Fofana opened the scoring for the Shamrocks after 20 mins and the Ivorien added a second ten minutes later.

Colum McComish netted the third after 40 mins after great work from Fofana on the right wing.

Sporting Astoria pulled one back on the hour mark but Fofana completed his hat-trick after 65 minutes.

Sporting Astoria added a second after 75 minutes but then Jim Wong and Colum McComish rounded out the scoring in the final ten minutes.

Later at Randall’s Island, the Over 30s got back to winning ways in a crucial game against second placed NY Dinamo, beating the hosts 3-0 in a fiery encounter.

The Rocks were off the mark with just two minutes on the clock when Sebastien Thiol crossed low to midfielder Alex Berne who drilled home his fifth of the season.

Sean Riley then scored the goal of the day – a half volley from 20 yards which gave the Dinamo keeper no chance.

Dinamo enjoyed a period of dominance but the Rocks defended well until a late own goal ensured all three points.

Happy Holidays from The Rocks

2014 has seen great development at our club.

First and foremost our generous sponsors are crucial to everything we do.

Our end of year party at the Courtyard on Friday night was an enjoyable evening and the support Pat and Frank have given us all year has been incredible.

We are hugely appreciative of everything they do for us – not forgetting Ray, Sinead and Melissa.

The great people at GTI have also been incredibly helpful once again this season and the GTI hoodies have gone down a storm!

A new sponsor came on board too with Keelan McLaughlin’s Crana Electric stepping up to the plate for the Over 30s team and we are very grateful for his decision to lend his shoulder to the wheel.

We also had great support from Radeberger, Johner Guildea, Antoin O Duibhir (New Wave) and Andrew James Interiors.

The addition of a women’s team has added greatly to our club and we look forward to bigger and better things from a great crew.

Meanwhile, all three men’s teams are top of their divisions but all three coaches know there’s a lot more to do.

The spring will be an exciting time but the players will be back training in January to try and bring some glory to the club.

To all our players, coaches, members, supporters and sponsors, have a peaceful holiday season with your families.

Up the Rocks!
